A mother and daughter joint venture of love, Rose Hill became a nursery specializing in Old Garden Roses. Our nursery was developed for pleasure as well as a "test garden" to offer today's gardener results and recommendations for easy care disease resistant plants. Our house and garden, dating from the 1850's, had huge old camellias and azaleas planted by previous owners. There are plantings now combined with heirloom roses, old fashioned perennials, other new and old flowers and shrubs, and native plants. Along with reliability, beauty, and disease resistance, plants that attract butterflies were chosen resulting in not only an heirloom rose garden but an amazing butterfly sanctuary. We welcome you to visit Rose Hill Garden and nursery. Let us turn your yard into a personal haven. Please phone ahead for verification of current times we are open for visits. Group tours and lectures are also welcome. Located in Ethel, Louisiana, in an area called the Felicianas (Happy Land) we are an easy 45 minute drive from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, all on good highways. It is a two-hour trip from New Orleans and a little over an hour from Natchez, Mississippi. Historic St. Francisville, Clinton, and Jackson, Louisiana are nearby featuring Antebellum homes, museums, shops, state parks, old gardens, lovely bed & breakfast's and great dining places.
