Disease-resistant Choices

Our emphasis is on heirloom plants as well as disease resistance and easy-care garden roses. We focus on the top roses - not on collecting the most varieties.

Of the many different classes of roses only some are suitable for southern gardens. Our collection contains disease-resistant roses for a range of zones. Please consult the USDA zone chart to choose roses for your state's temperature range.

It is important to understand that "disease-resistant" is different from being totally disease-free. There are many factors such as soil, climate, light and care that go into determining the fate of a rose.

Many of the heirloom roses in our collection are found in old gardens. These hardy survivors are quite well-suited for your easy care garden. You can help preserve a bit of history by including these classic favorites in your personal landscape; living relics that will bring you baskets of blossoms for years to come.

Own Root Roses

All of the roses offered at Rose Hill Garden are grown on their own roots. "Own root roses" usually live much longer than grafted roses. It is not unusual to find fifty year old roses growing on their own roots.
